TrojanHORSE powerH.O.R.S.E. is an acronym that represents Help Organize Research Skills Effectively. As you complete each self-guided study in the five units of HORSEpower, YOU will strengthen your RESEARCH and THINKING SKILLS in five specific areas. You will review FINDING RESOURCES in the LIBRARY as well as the logic behind the ORGANIZATION of the LIBRARY (Dewey Decimal System). One unit will assist you to sort through the massive amounts of material available to find QUALITY, BELIEVEABLE RESOURCES on the World Wide WEB (Web Site Evaluation). Another unit teaches and reviews USING all RESOURCES PROPERLY, but especially those websites which are far too easy to copy and paste (Copyright and Plagiarism). Students always need review and assistance to CREATE a Bibliography/WORKS CITED page (Citing Resources), so that is the focus of the fourth unit. The fifth unit gives you a few tips to keep you SAFE as you start your explorations on the slippery trails of the Wild, Wild Web (Internet Safety).
To "ride" through these units, first find the TrojanHORSEpower files in "Media Center Files". Print out the document for your unit and grade level.
